#SUNYSA My first days on the job! June 12, 2014

Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams!!”

Wow, these last few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement! All of the staff at #SUNYEmpire and #SUNY System have been amazing during the process of the Swearing In ceremony and everything else that has come up during this process. I have learned a great deal about myself and all of the the people who surround me each and every day. What an amazing group of people I have in my life!! A special thank you to Chancellor Nancy Zimpher, Emeritus President Stuart Steiner from my Alma mater #SUNYGCC and President Merodie Hancock from #SUNYEmpire plus Dr. Larene Hoelcle, my family/friends, members of my #SUNYFamily, and the SUNY interns, staff, and administrators.

Some of the #SUNYSA Executive Board, our advisors, SUNY staff, the Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor Dr. Beth Bringsjord, and Chancellor Nancy Zimpher had a great conversations about our SUNYSA goals and the system wide SUNY Initiatives. We did some brainstorming on upcoming issues, concerns, and ideas surrounding our #463,000Students and the ways that we can help out each of our #64Campuses!

During the last week I have had the honor and privilege to attend SUNY Empire State Colleges Northeast Center, Center for Distance Learning, and Genesee Valley Centers (GVC) graduations! I recently (on Sunday the 8th of June) graduated with my BA in Photojournalism/Documentary Production from GVC. I am so proud to have accomplished this goal and dream! The interesting thing about my graduation is that I have been acting in my official capacity as a member of the SUNY Board of Trustees during the SUNY Empire State College’s graduation circuit. These graduations have been my first duties as a Trustee and I am pretty proud to be serving as a Board member.

Today, I am traveling to NYC to attend the graduation ceremonies of the SUNY ESC’s Metropolitan Center tonight and the Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Center for Labor Studies tomorrow. On Saturday, we will be attending the Long Island Centers grad ceremony as we wrap up the all of the SUNY Empire State College’s graduations.

Life is good!!
