Health for the Gulf Benefit Concert November 13, 2011

Getting ready to head back to Louisiana for both work and pleasure. The last six months have been an adventure in the planning of both Drew Landry’s New York Tour and the Health for the Gulf Benefit Concert at Maison Frenchmen in New Orleans on the 20th of November from 1pm until 6pm!
This benefit concert will be raising monies for leanweb.org so that they can continue to help the folks that have gotten sick due to the Corexit that was sprayed in the Gulf of Mexico because of the BP oil spill.
We will have speakers at this event as well as a wide array of performers for the Gulf Coast Region! The performers will be:
Drew Landry Band
Charmaine Neville & Amasa Miller
Damion Lord Nexus Neville
Bryce Neville
Dancingman 504
Elsie Semmes
Skinz n Bonez
Tony Skratchere
The Troubleshooters
Fritzi Presley
We hope to see y’all out at Maisons!!

NOLA Day #5 CONTD October 13, 2010

We had a great meeting with Pete from Episcopal Community Services of LA. He has a wonderful new program that they have started and I will be blogging about it when I have all of the information. His organization is looking for more folks to come on down to New Orleans and help with the rebuilding process. They are a fabulous organization to work with and I know that the experience will either change or enhance your life forever.
Plans have changed for this afternoon! We will be meeting with Bryce Neville this afternoon to take a tour down into the Lower 9th Ward so I will have to reschedule my meeting with Bayou Grace Community Services for next week via video conference. I am looking forward to the tour and filming more footage for the documentary.
It is almost time for my conference call with my fellow GCC SGA officers. Should be a great meeting.

NOLA Day #3 Contd October 11, 2010

Well, I always told the peeps that came down with me that we can make a schedule but you have to learn to be flexible when you are here. That flexibility worked today as we did not make it to Buras. But a dear friend has family there and left information for me to connect them and I would have missed the opportunity to talk to them if you had made it there today. Thanks so much Cynthia for getting me that info as I will be contacting them tomorrow!!
Today was a great day for gathering more information and I cannot wait until I can sit down and start compiling everything together. I am looking forward to speaking to several of the staff and faculty at Delgado Community College City Campus in New Orleans about their own personal experiences.
We are heading down to Frenchmen Street tonight for some great food, conversation, and music at Snug Harbor. Spending some time talking with Bryce and Charmaine Neville about their experiences for the documentary. We are looking forward to listening to Charmaine Neville and her band this evening.
More to come…

NOLA Day 1 Comes to an end October 10, 2010

So, we went down on Frenchmen Street tonight to The Maison (http://www.maisonfrenchmen.com/) to be a part of Cyril Neville’s Birthday Bash. It was a great time with some amazing musicians. It was a beautiful night so we went to Charmaine Neville’s Jazz Club on St. Charles and enjoyed drinks on the balcony!
I love the culture here. You can truly immerse yourself in it 24/7, 365 days of the year! Gotta love it. Until tomorrow, be safe and have a great night!
